मुंबई। मध्य रेलवे ने ब्रिटिश काल के एक पुल को गिराने का काम पूरा किया। इसके लिए मेन लाइन पर भायखला और सीएसटी रेलवे स्टेशनों के बीच 18 घंटे तक रेल यातायात बाधित रहा और ट्रेनों की संख्या कम कर दी गई। मध्य रेलवे का “मेगा ब्लॉक” रविवार मध्य रात्रि 12.20 से शुरू हुआ और शाम तक जारी रहा। इस लाइन पर उपनगरीय रेल सेवा शाम 6.20 के बाद बहाल हुई। मध्य रेलवे के वरिष्ठ पीआरओ एके जैन ने इस अभियान को सफल बताया।

पुल को गिराने में 650 कर्मियों और 50 इंजीनियरों की मदद ली गई। बिना किसी परेशानी के यह अभियान पूरा हुआ। हालांकि यात्रियों ने ट्रेन रोके जाने की निंदा की। रविवार होने के कारण यात्रियों की संख्या कम रही। जबकि बहुत से यात्रियों ने अन्य रूटों को चुना। हैनकॉक पुल का निर्माण 1879 में किया गया था। 1923 में इसे फिर से बनाया गया। 1877-78 के बीच बृहनमुंबई के चेयरमैन रहे एचएफ हैनकॉक के नाम पर इसका नाम रखा गया। 18 नवंबर 2015 को पुल सड़क यातायात और पैदल यात्रियों के लिए बंद कर दिया गया था। अब बाद में इसे फिर से बनाया जाएगा।
